A London Fashion Week like no other begins this Friday, with the majority of shows and presentations being brought online. Fashion lovers are now able to access Fashion Week in ways we only could have dreamed of just a few months ago.
High-production catwalks are out this season, replaced by small-scale shows and digital presentations. Backstage gossip will instead be replaced by Zoom calls with designers.
LFW stalwarts including JW Anderson, Vivienne Westwood and Burberry are bringing their shows to the digital sphere this week. Both menswear and womenswear will be shown this season in LFW’s gender-neutral, socially distanced showcase.
About a third of the 80 designers showing this week are opting for live, socially distanced presentations, including Victoria Beckham and Molly Godard. Shows will be available to stream live from the London Fashion Week website, as well as interviews with designers. Playlists curated by the designers themselves and inspired by collections will enable you to enjoy the full front-row experience.
Fashion at Morley is also fully embracing the blending of physical and digital. With social distancing measures in place and well-equipped covid secure studios, some physical courses are still taking place while many have moved online.
“As a team of creatives hardwired to adapt and innovate, it’s the digital space and the opportunities that technology is presenting us with this term that we are most excited about,” said Morley fashion tutor Sarah Lomax.
“The digital classes make it even easier for people with disabilities or childcare commitments to take part,” tutor Alice Holloway continued. “I’ve really enjoyed being able to share the experience of making fashion with an inclusive group of students, especially while other social activities have been restricted.”
If you’re feeling inspired by this weekend’s shows, our range of exciting courses are suitable for all ages and all levels at Morley. Whether you’re keen to get started and learn to sew, or determined to design your own collection for future fashion weeks, you’ll find your perfect course at Morley.
