We are excited to announce that we have launched Morley Book Club, a staff initiative to keep our community connected during this time through the joy of reading.
Our book for May is:
Girl, Women, Other by Bernardine Evaristo
Teeming with life and crackling with energy — a love song to modern Britain and black womanhood.
Girl, Woman, Other follows the lives and struggles of twelve very different characters. Mostly women, black and British, they tell the stories of their families, friends and lovers, across the country and through the years.
Joyfully polyphonic and vibrantly contemporary, this is a gloriously new kind of history, a novel of our times: celebratory, ever-dynamic and utterly irresistible.
About Morley Book Club
The club aims to meet once a week. We’ll ask discussion questions, share our opinions, gush and rant about our favourite and least favourite characters, make plot predictions and generally drop in random thoughts as we read together, as well as having fun with games and quizzes.
Each month we will be announcing the book for the month on At Home with Morley, which is voted for by our Book Club community.
We encourage the wider Morley community to get involved by reading along with us, and even sharing your thoughts of the book. Make sure you use #MorleyBookClub if you are planning take part – so please share your pictures, thoughts and feelings with us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, or simply leave a comment below!
